He's In The Arms Of An Angel

The following images were made for me as a tribute for my son, and support to me and my family, by online friends. I thank you all so very much.

Losing your son before his time
Is not supposed to be
I couldn't imagine your pain right now
But this is to you from me...
Nothing I can say can stop
the fact that it hurts so
To visit every now and then
the only place you know
to hug your child's spirit
while he's watching from above
Please know I send this poem to you
with nothing else but love
I know your son is here with you
and in his special way
will hug his mother's spirit
on this Memorial Day.

The poem above was written by my friend Ann for me on Memorial Day, 1999. Thank you Ann. It's beautiful.

For Roger Dale Carney
A tree?
A tree!
The coward said he'd hit a tree.
A tree that died with the metallic taste of blood
in his mouth, smelling that same blood.
He died with the awful sounds of impact
pounding in his head,
amid the horror of the darkness.
A tree!
A tree!
You hit a tree alright you piece of shit!

A tree that had grown in spite of itself
with too few solid roots,
and scars from self-made storms.

A tree that with sturdy limbs and solid trunk
could shelter those he loved.

A tree who'd stood alone too long
but was finally branching out
and pruning his own dead wood
had learned what life's about.

A tree that showed that we all can grow
despite the trials of our youth.

Oh irony of ironies!
The coward's biggest lie
has proved to be the truth.
